Microblading

microblading

Microblading is a cosmetic eyebrow treatment that creates the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs using a small handheld tool with tiny needles.

How it works

  • A technician uses fine strokes to deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin.
  • The strokes are designed to resemble individual eyebrow hairs.
  • The result is usually fuller, more defined, natural-looking eyebrows.
  • It is considered a form of semi-permanent makeup, rather than a traditional tattoo.

How long does it last?

Typically around 1–3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, pigment, sun exposure, and aftercare. It gradually fades rather than disappearing all at once.

What happens during the appointment?

  1. Your brows are measured and shaped.
  1. A brow outline is drawn for you to approve.
  1. Numbing cream is usually applied.
  1. Hair-like strokes are created with the microblading tool.
  1. Pigment is applied.
  1. The area is cleaned and aftercare instructions are provided.
  1. A touch-up, often several weeks later, may be recommended.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than very painful. Numbing cream can significantly reduce the sensation.

Healing

Immediately afterward, brows can look darker, sharper, and slightly swollen. They usually soften as they heal. Some flaking or itching can occur during the healing process.

Who may not be a good candidate?

Microblading isn’t ideal for everyone. For example, people with very oily skin may find that fine strokes blur or fade faster. Certain medications, skin conditions, pregnancy, or other medical factors can also affect whether it’s appropriate.

Important: Because the skin is being broken, choosing a properly trained, hygienic technician is very important. Poor technique or sanitation can result in infection, scarring, pigment changes, or an unwanted shape.
